Non-Profit Networking & Recruitment Coordinator (Part-Time)

The American Music Institute (AMI) is seeking a motivated and outgoing individual for a Networking & Recruitment Coordinator role. This position is ideal for someone interested in arts administration, relationship-building, and talent development within a growing music education nonprofit.

This role offers a 360-degree view of nonprofit operations, with a strong emphasis on building partnerships, recruiting students and faculty, and expanding AMI’s presence in the music community.

Position Overview

  • Hours: 8–12 hours per week (with additional hours as needed)
  • Schedule: Flexible within normal business hours
  • Location: Primarily remote, with required in-person meetings and networking events
  • Transportation: Must have reliable access to a car for travel to schools, events, and meetings
  • Job Type: Part-time, Contract

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Interest in music, arts education, or nonprofit work
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Familiarity with the music education community is a plus
  • Required: active involvement in the music industry, ideally as a public music school teacher, college music teacher, professional performer, or industry professional with strong understanding of music education.

Key Responsibilities

Networking & Outreach (Primary Focus)
  • Build and maintain relationships with music educators and institutions, including:
    • Public and private school orchestra, band, and choir programs
    • Private music teachers and studios
    • Music organizations such as Illinois Music Education Association and American String Teachers Association
    • Industry events such as Midwest Clinic and other regional/national conferences
  • Develop connections with music influencers and artists to expand AMI’s reach
  • Represent AMI at concerts, competitions, and music events
  • Coordinate & set-up concerts, ie chamber music faculty, etc
Recruitment & Program Development
  • Support recruitment efforts for:
    • Students and families
  • Assist in organizing and promoting:
    • AYCO recruiting and scheduling clinics/masterclasses
    • AMI Mini Campus programs and outreach initiatives
  • Identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities for program growth
Administrative & Coordination Support
  • Schedule meetings with partners, educators, and collaborators
  • Maintain and organize outreach databases and contact lists
  • Assist with communications, including email campaigns and social media initiatives
  • Support fundraising efforts and campaign outreach
  • Assist in planning and executing events, performances, and special initiatives

Potential Role Expansion

  • Support networking and partnership development for:
    • Chicago Violin Competition (CVC)
    • GigHubb platform initiatives
  • Help build relationships with organizations, sponsors, and collaborators
