Justina Chu – Flute / Piano
Justina Chu is a Chicago-area flutist with an active orchestral career. She earned her Master of Music degree from Longy School of Music. There, she studied with Robert Willoughby. She also earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston. Her flute studies were with Peggy Russell.
Justina completed a Post-master’s Certificate in Flute Performance at DePaul University. She studied with Mark Sparks during the program.
In 2024, Justina was appointed Second Flute of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, and Elgin Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has appeared as a guest artist with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Her performances included Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and Orchestral Suite in B minor.
Justina is also an experienced flute teacher. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as a full-time private flute instructor. During that time, she taught at several high schools and junior high schools in the Greater Houston area.
In 2019, Justina performed as a soloist with the Aspen Music Festival’s Conducting Academy Orchestra. She earned the opportunity after winning the festival’s Concerto Competition. That same year, she received First Prize at the Atlanta Flute Club’s Young Artist Competition. She later presented a recital at the club’s 2021 Flute Fair.
After moving to Chicago, Justina joined the British International School’s Studio 814 program. She worked there as a flute instructor from 2018 to 2019.
