Emma Hinkle – Brass / Piano

Emma Hinkle (brass/piano) received her BM from Kent State University in Horn Performance and MM in Horn Performance at Northern Illinois University. During her time in Kent, she performed with the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra as second horn and the Tuscarawas Philharmonic. Since moving to Dekalb, she plays in the NIU Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic, and a member of various chamber ensembles. She has regularly been involved with various groups and ensembles around the greater Chicago area and the Midwest such as Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Iowa, Rockford Symphony Orchestra, among others. Emma has studied horn with Renée Vogen, Kent Larmee, Marshall Sealy, and Steve Stroup.

As a teacher, Emma hopes to inspire musicians pursuing their passion and provide an opportunity to continue their learning. Music is for everyone and should be a fun, fulfilling craft to learn. In her lessons, instruction will be individualized based on the students needs and learning techniques. Students will continue to learn about their instrument and how to improve their playing through different styles, basic music theory, and overall becoming a well-rounded musician.
