Crystalyn Snow – Piano/Voice

Crystalyn Snow Boyer, a native of Indiana, grew up loving music. She began formal piano lessons at the age of twelve, studying with Christine Brown at the Indiana University Southeast Music Preparatory Department. Crystalyn received her Bachelor of Music degree as a double major in piano performance and music education from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), studying piano with Robert Ruckman. She is currently working on her master’s degree in piano performance at DePaul University, and is studying piano with George Vatchnadze. Crystalyn has given numerous solo and chamber recitals in the Ohio and Indiana areas. In June 2013, she was featured as a guest artist in Savannah, GA as part of the Messiah Arts Summer Concerts Series. During the summer of 2012, Crystalyn attended Brevard Music Center under the tutelage of Douglas Weeks. While at Brevard, she was a piano teaching assistant, in which she coached high school pianists and accompanied instrumentalists. Crystalyn also performed in the BMC orchestras under the direction of conductors such as Keith Lockhart. Crystalyn is very active as a collaborative pianist, performing a wide range of literature with instrumentalists, vocalists, and chamber groups. During her time at CCM, she was an accompanist for Cincinnati Children’s Choir, as well as a studio accompanist for voice lessons. As a lover of musical theater, Crystalyn is very involved with music directing and playing in pit orchestras, having worked with several theater companies in Louisville, KY and Cincinnati. Personal Statement As a music teacher, I strive to incorporate my love of music into each and every lesson. I believe that a love for music is a significant factor in students leading a well-rounded life. During lessons, I focus on music literacy, technique, and creativity in music, so that the students will understand and develop in all aspects of the music-making process.
