Matthew Primm received his B.A. in Music from UNC Charlotte, and his M.M. in Composition & Strings from the Hartt School in Connecticut. Prior to moving to Chicago, he worked for several years as Director of Orchestras at Pine Lake Preparatory in Charlotte, NC, and has taught private violin, viola, cello, and piano lessons to students of all ages. In addition to teaching, Matthew regularly performs, and has played viola and violin for several orchestra, opera, and musical theatre productions. In 2016 he co-founded the Particular Ensemble, a new music group based in Charlotte that promotes works by living composers. With almost 10 years of teaching experience, he enjoys helping others learn a new instrument and seeing them cultivate a passion for music. He loves exploring different genres of music and providing students with a well-rounded education.
