Olivia Doig – Voice/Piano

Soprano Olivia Doig is a Chicago native who holds a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance at Wheaton College (IL) and a Masters degree in Vocal Performance at Florida State University. While at Florida State, Olivia worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Musical Theater department, teaching a private studio of musical theater and theater majors while mentored by Florida State’s distinguished senior voice professors. Olivia first came to love opera while singing in children’s choruses at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as a child. She now performs a range of repertoire including musical theater and opera. Some of her most recent roles include Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Gabriel (Haydn’s Creation) Anne Truelove (The Rakes Progress), Laurie (The Tender Land), Rapunzel and Cinderella (Into the Woods), Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). Olivia has also trained and performed with Opera in the Ozarks, OperaWorks, and the Kunming Opera Festival (in Kunming, China), and will perform German Lieder at the Schubert-Institut in Baden, Austria during the summer of 2016. She has received awards from the Orpheus Voice Competition, the Chicago Italian Cultural Center, the Grandquist Music Festival, and the Illinois and Chicago NATS Chapters.

While an active performer, Olivia is equally passionate about her private teaching. She strives to teach each of her students to develop healthy practice and performance habits that support longevity, to broaden their musical understanding by introducing them to new styles and composers, and to help them gain confidence in their individuality through the discovery their unique sound.
