Rick TempleTrumpet

Originally from the western suburbs of Chicago, AMI's trumpet instructor Rick Temple graduated from the University of Illinois music education program in 2002. While there he specialized in jazz performance. In addition to teaching at AMI, Rick also plays in local groups.

Middle and High School students can learn performance skills relevant to the various musical activities they are involved in. Rick is also great with elementary school students teaching methods that lay the foundation for a good experience in their musical endeavors. No matter what the age Rick has something to offer to the developing trumpet player.

Personal Statement

My personal philosophy of music education is to teach students to be lifelong learners of music. However, to become a lifelong learner students must do more than simply be a reader of music, they must learn to play by ear and start to understand aspects of musical theory. I feel that these two things in particular get students on track to become lifelong learners.
